In addition, starting in FY11 the Board will provide oversight to the Hawaii Federal Health Care Network (HFHCN) to ensure that the portfolio is aligned with warfighter mission critical requirements.

HFHCN was formed as a Congressional Special Interest (CSI) program known as Akamai II. This initiative supports applied research, development and deployment of telehealth and biotechnology to improve access and the quality of care to active duty military families and impacted communities. Akamai II continues on a transition path toward competitive grants for Hawaii companies in support of Department of Defense (DoD) health requirements. HFHCN will transition to the Pacific JITC on April 1, 2011.
